Investing in transportation projects...

The federal government is the primary funding source for the Central Lane MPO. Other funding may come from a variety of sources including the state, transit districts, and local governments.  The following describes some of the different ways in which regional transportation plans and projects are prioritized and funded.

Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.  The Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) is the Eugene-Springfield's four year capital improvement program for regional transportation projects.  The MTIP contains a list of plans and projects that are to be funded in the near-term, within the next four years.  The MTIP:

• Allocates state and federal funds for both capital and operating needs
• Becomes part of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program
• Is updated every two years to four years
