(All personally identifiable data will be kept confidential.* Users can cancel a trip at any time for any reason and no data will be sent unless explicitly directed by the user). Think of this application as a travel survey that asks where and why you are riding, but automatically maps your route rather than asking you to write it down from memory. For the Android - download CycleLane from the App Store or from the Android Market app on your phone. (If you're browsing this page from your Android phone, you can go directly to the app download page.) For iPhone owners - click here to access the iTunes Preview store. Questions about the application? Please see the FAQ. Post your comments or suggestions to our Facebook page. For more information on the project, e-mail Josh Roll at LCOG, or call 541-682-2454. Both versions (iPhone and Android) of the CycleLane application code can be found in the link below. This work builds on code development originating from San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA).
As part of an ongoing effort by local transportation planners, we are interested in knowing more detailed information about bicyclists’ route choice behavior. Primarily, we are interested in validating a current bicycle route choice algorithm based on research completed at Portland State University. This research has been implemented in our area and is used to predict a typical bicyclist’s route between a given origin and destination pair, taking into consideration a number of factors found relevant to Portland cyclists. These factors include exposure to auto volumes, topography, facility type, stops, and others. It’s very exciting research! Once we receive local bicycle rider information we can then complete the implementation of the route choice model which can then be used in planning for future bike facilities and upgrades for bicyclists.
The CycleLane in the News and on the Web!! If you are a developer interested in creating mobile apps based on the CycleLane source code, you can browse or fork the code for the iPhone or for Android. We encourage you to find great ways to build on it! Note that the source code is licensed under the Gnu GPL license version 3, which means you must provide the source code to any changes you distribute. Associated Papers:
